Connect HelpKit to ChatGPT

ChatGPT supports MCP on Plus and above. There are two routes to add it, depending on your plan, and both finish the same way. Take the one that matches your subscription.

There is one extra step at the end that people commonly miss, so do not stop once the setup dialog closes.

1. Open the New Plugin dialog. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and hit +. Your HelpKit dashboard also has an Open in ChatGPT button under Account Settings → MCP that takes you straight there.

2. Fill it in, leaving Connection on Server URL.

3. Keep Authentication on OAuth, tick "I understand and want to continue", and hit Create. A HelpKit page opens in your browser. Sign in if you need to, click Approve, and you are connected.

1. Open Settings → Connectors. Under Advanced, turn Developer mode on. This is simply the area where ChatGPT keeps connectors you add yourself.

2. Click Create and fill it in.

3. Leave Authentication on OAuth (select it if it is not already) and submit. Approve in the browser window that opens.

This is the step people miss. Adding the connector is not enough on its own.

Start a new chat, open the + (tools) menu, and enable HelpKit. Then ask:

If ChatGPT behaves as though HelpKit does not exist, this is almost always why.

ChatGPT shows a caution on any connector you add yourself, rather than one it has reviewed. It is standard wording and it appears for every self added server.

For the record, HelpKit reads your own help center data and writes drafts into your own Notion. It cannot change your account, your billing or your subscription, and you decide separately whether it may touch anything your visitors see.

Nine times out of ten the connector is simply not enabled inside the chat.
